The hospitality provided by Kobayashi and Taka was nothing short of extraordinary. Our Japanese is very bad but they were very kind and patient with us. The food was beyond delicious and they were accommodating for our vegetarian diet, and the baths were luxurious and relaxing. They picked us up from the train station and even offered to drive us to the snow monkeys which was an unexpected touch. You will miss out if you do not stay at Yudanaka Yasuragi.

The baths are significantly hotter than other onsen- I loved it but my partner couldn't bear it. If you are sensitive to heat I recommend planning to visit the other lovely baths in town.

We had a truly delightful and heartwarming stay at Yudanaka Yasuragi. From the very beginning, the owner was incredibly kind and helpful, providing clear instructions in English through the booking chat and offering to pick us up at the station. When we arrived, a driver was waiting for us and we were warmly welcomed at the ryokan. The ryokan is wonderfully cosy and charming, with beautiful, spotless rooms. We were also pleasantly surprised to discover that a private onsen was available at no additional charge — a wonderful experience. The following morning, we were kindly driven to the Snow Monkey Park free of charge, at a time convenient for us. Breakfast was served in a beautifully decorated room, with plenty of fresh, seasonal food. But what really stood out was the kaiseki dinner. Served in a private room, it was carefully adapted to my gluten intolerance, with a complete menu that was both delicious and of excellent quality. The kindness continued until the very end. As we had to leave early the next morning, the owner arranged another ride and prepared a beautiful boxed meal for our journey, with onigiri, fruit, salad and more. And in a particularly touching gesture, after we mentioned that we loved fresh figs, we found a whole box of them in our bag the next morning! A truly wonderful stay, made unforgettable by the warmth, generosity and thoughtful hospitality of the owner and staff. Thank you so much for making our visit so special.
