Magome Chaya

What a special town and memorable stay in this incredible guesthouse. We stayed in the hostel and it was the best hostel we have stayed at. We also organised the set dinner and wow what an experience. A must book to enjoy this incredible place in a very lovely authentic town.

It was well located in central Magome and had ample community spaces to chill before bed. Owner was very friendly. They had a lot of supplies and food available with an honesty box for payment.

The dinner felt really overpriced for what we got. It was over 3500 yen per person per day, which is more than I would have spent at an upscale restaurant, and way more than I'd be comfortable spending at a hostel. They were a bit deceptive in that the drinks cost extra; we assumed they'd be included in the price given that it was so much. The second day I didn't want to take the dinner, but there are no refunds. The beds are also extremely uncomfortable, I asked the owner if I could have an extra mattress and they obliged.
