The Golden Lion Hotel

Staff were very good and polite. Breakfast was excellent. Bar and band played on Sunday night were very good. The room was nice and well kept. Hotel itself in very nice.parking is very good in the large car park at the rear of the hotel.

Unfortunately we were not aware that the hotel stopped serving food around 4ish on a Sunday afternoon so we couldn’t obtain an evening meal, didn’t know about this when booking. The room although very nice was at the front of the hotel and noisy especially around 4am in the morning when a delivery lorry was unloading opposite the hotel, the driver was unloading / loading plastic crates just throwing them on and off the truck. Rooms could do with secondary glazing. Couplands driver needs better training.

Great location with plenty of parking. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Lovely food & nice bar & restaurant areas. Good breakfast.

Only complaint is we had a room on the front & were woken at 5am when they setup the Saturday market outside the hotel. Very noisy & loud with no consideration for the hotel guests.

Location was fantastic. Clean room. Comfortable beds. Good size rooms. Good food. Good price. Cleaning staff helpful. Friendly bar staff. Lovely hotel and great court yard space. Ear plugs provided just in case of busy noise. Nice touch.

Room not cleaned on second day. Bar guy that evening did help out though with fresh towels and coffee replenishment so all ok. He was very good. Reception team could have been more attentive. Waved us on into the bar while we only wanted to check in. Just assumed without asking. Had to wait with no interaction while doing admin. Reception team did not greet in the morning with a cheery hello. Poor customer service from them, could of been better. Rooms pleasant but wish the shower gels were in complementary bottles or at least nice bottle instead of the hand wash dispensers you see in public bathrooms.
