Hostal River

Les gens serviable

Un très bon service

Very close to city center and easy to get transport.

No kettle in the room, and no toileteries for the sink in the room.

It was my first time staying in a room with a shared bathroom, so I was a bit hesitant at first. However, the experience exceeded my expectations. The location was excellent, just a short walk from the metro with plenty of great bakeries, restaurants, bars, and a large market nearby. Since it's in the historic city center some locals advised us to be mindful of our surroundings. We also appreciated the building's security measures as after midnight, the entrance was locked, and guests needed to ring the bell to be let in. There was also 24/7 video surveillance, which made us feel more secure. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. Despite the language difference, communication was easy and never an issue. The room and all shared facilities, including the bathrooms and toilets, were consistently spotless and well maintained. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this Hostal to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and well located place to stay.

The main downside was the lack of soundproofing, which is understandable given the age of the building. We could hear conversations and other noises through the walls. Street noise was also noticeable, but that's to be expected since the hostel is located in a lively, popular area. One particularly amusing moment happened on our first night, around midnight, when someone in the building turned on a tap or took a shower. It honestly sounded as though water was pouring into our room! It was unexpected, but it made us laugh more than anything. Despite the noise, it wasn't a major issue, and it certainly wouldn't stop us from staying at Hostal River again.
