La Torretta Lodge

The location is beautiful. Rooms were bare, uncomfortable, and staff were not particularly attentive.

The room was pretty disappointing given the price. The beds were rock hard, the pillow were lumpy synthetic pillows, and the windows didn't even have blinds, just sheer pieces of fabric hung from hooks in the wall which did very little to keep out the light. We had to hang towels over the window at night to sleep... which is not what you expect for over 2k USD per night. When I stayed years ago the hotel did a cocktail hour on the patio w complimentary drinks, which was really nice for meeing the other guests and enjoying the hotel. They don't anymore, and since the rooms are scattered, it really just felt more like an airbnb with housekeeping, but for a much higher price. On check in the four of us introduced ourselves and were told by the hostess "I'm not going to remember your names" and this proved to be very true. On checking out three nights later my aunt was blocked from using the lobby bathroom because the hostess didn't think she was a guest there... We had been there 3 nights in a double suite... in a very small, maybe 12 room hotel. Everywhere else we stayed on our trip was much cheaper and we were greeted by name every time. I was going to give all this feedback to the hotel privately on checkout... but again... they didn't even ask how our stay was. Really not what you would expect for the luxury price.

Location

There was no concierge service after 8pm until the next morning 8am. We had to take our luggages to the gates uNESCO entrance uphill. Apparently they had staff raising next door but unwilling to go out of their hours to accommodate our early morning checkout. Not a good service
