Very friendly staff and efficient check in on arrival. Standard double room with ensuite bathroom with shower; whilst clean and functional, the shower was on the small side but this was due to the limitations of the size of the bathroom for this particular room.
We did not have breakfast but we did eat in the restaurant with 3 other family members (5 of us in total) and we had a very nice meal and the staff (Cat, Sherrie, Greg & Kian) who served and prepared the food were excellent.
Nothing for us on this visit; except for me finding the shower cubicle on the small size. But in context I am above average size and the limitations of an older building restricts what can be fitted.
I would still be happy to stay again.

I've stayed at The Unicorn quite a few times though not for several months.
It's an ancient coaching inn. Apparently it was mentioned in 1695 when the proprietor was also responsible for the ferry over the Trent which flows just by it. I'm not sure if any of the current building dates back that far but some of it is definitely old.
Very good parking and pleasant location ( ask for a river view )
There are some steps up to all the rooms but they're not very steep.
Breakfast is fine.
Above all I can't praise the staff too highly. Whenever I have been there they have without exception been welcoming, friendly and efficient.
I shall return.
Although it remains good value the prices vary according to the date ( a pattern that I can't fathom ). I think overall it is noticeably more expensive than a year ago.

The bed was big and comfy that was the best thing
The rooms upstairs need abit of money spent just to tidy up. Soap dispenser wasn’t attached to the wall etc the room just need abit of TLC . Down stairs bar restaurant was lovely upstairs let it down.
There was no customer service for the rooms it felt like the rooms where a part that they didn’t really want
As we checked in we were told no staff on site over night !
