The rooms were very nice and if you stayed on the top floor as we did, the views were spectacular. Good location close to Beppu Station. The Japanese Restaurant was good and the shops inside the hotel were excellent. Nice Yukatas for wear inside hotel. Staff was friendly.

There were only 3 elevators. Not only were they very slow, but once the elevator was filled, it still stopped at every floor where people were waiting to get in. When a tour group arrived, you might have to wait 20 + minutes to get to your room. Apparently this hotel is catering to cheap tour groups from Korea and China? They overwhelm all of the facilities, are noisy, don’t follow the rules, etc. So the buffet breakfasts and dinners were crowded and very noisy, despite the relaxing music. We thought we had booked a Breakfast Only package through Booking.Com but were forced to pay for dinner, too. Not happy about that, since we wanted to dine outside for variety of food! Most hotels give you bottled water in your room; this hotel did not. The hotel public bath needs an update. Water temperatures in the bath were only lukewarm.
