Alcamim Guesthouse

Lovely hotel with beautiful rooms that were perfect for me and my family. The hotel staff were excellent and even let us check in an hour early even though we didn’t request this beforehand, would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Elvas.

Nothing, it was all perfect and we couldn’t have asked for more.

Everything was good

Brilliant location, in historic centre and a few minutes walk to museums and restaurants, but free car parking across the road from guest house. Friendly staff. I appreciated the free chilled water and tea/coffee facilities in the reception.

This place is centrally located, and has a great price. It's perfect to get out and explore the city. Room was comfortable, and had air conditioning which was definitely needed at this time of year. Everything worked, bathroom etc - we had no major problems with anything. The person in reception was friendly and offered tea/coffee and advice on things to do. She also allowed to let us keep our bags there while we waited for the bus which was greatly appreciated.

There were a few of small things. The person checking us in didn't really have a good knowledge of english. Not sure if they get many english speakers in Elvas, but luckily my Portuguese girlfriend was there to bridge the gap. Walls are super thin - you can hear everything. We'd be woken by the neighbouring room leaving the room in the morning. Lastly, there was nobody on reception when we checked out (at midday). We'd been sitting in the reception for like 15 minutes, trying to call the number in reception and on the website - eventually we got an answer and left the key with the cleaner, but it was frustrating (we didn't want to be charged extra or anything for a late check out). It was very strange for me to NOT have someone there during their specified checkout period.
