Rather that than stay in one place to visit Yogyakarta, Borabudur, and Prambanan, we decided to stay close to each place giving us more time and relaxation in each place. We were glad we did. In Prambanan, we were rewarded will a lovely time with Wibowo and Heni at their Rumah Desa Homestay, located on a lovely lane mere blocks from the Prambanan complex. We arrived by Grab from Borabudur, though we would could have contracted for a reasonable price through Wibowo. Wibowo and Heni were very friendly and gracious hosts who made you feel very welcome. Wibowo’s previous career in the government tourism agency made him extremely knowledgeable. We had a choice of two rooms and close the larger one. Comfortable and spacious. It had AC and a fan both of which we appreciated given the 38*C temperature. The room was also supplied with an anti-mosquito device which came in handy. The bathroom was clean and well supplied. It was also the only place we stayed in Indonesia which we had a washlet which we appreciated. The breakfast was large and filling with fresh fruit. They were clearly proud of their area and gave suggestions for additional things to do and see in the area. On our second day at Prambanan, Wiprowo was not only kind enough to drop us off on the way to his daily task, he also picked us up. When he picked us up, he also took us to have kopi lewak at a friend’s cafe. On our final day, Wibowo took us up to the base of Merapi to its “bunker,” a shelter used in case of an eruption. At the time, Merapi was active and we saw a small eruption on the way up. Along the way, Wibowo kindly and patiently answered our questions and took small detours to see things that enhanced our understanding of the area. Finally, he took us to the airport, a long drive during which we added stops in Koto Gede. It behooves all tourists to game plan around transportation to and from YIA, as it quite a distance from Prambanan.

Going in Rumah Desa homestay was the best choice that we could do. The owner of this house are the most kind, gentle and genuine persons that you could find. The room is big and clean and the bed is comfortable and big. Also the breakfast and the dinner was tasty, good and big. We also stay with Wibowo for four days because he kindly give us his driver service and special personal guide and with him we visited Bromo mountain, waterfalls and finally he brought us to the airport. He is clever always smiling and speak kindly and also a good driver. Happy to meet you
