The Beachcomber Hotel & Resort

Booking and check in was a breeze, they allowed us to hang by the pool also until our room was ready which was nice as we arrived much earlier than we intended. The TV actually works with our phones, which was a nice change from fancy Sydney hotels that lack this simple ability. I also did not have a charger aside from in the car and the girl on reception was amazingly helpful in sourcing me one and delivering it to my room! Was so glad to have found this hidden little gem! We got to watch the NRL Grand final here also and all in all we had a wonderful experience.

I ordered the house special lamb stroganoff pie. I was told there was only 2 left as they are very popular, I confirmed it was just lamb inside with gravy - as soon as I took the top of the pastry off i saw a whole heap of chopped up bacon (I do not eat bacon for religious purposes) - I took the pie back to the kitchen area and the lady checked with the chef and assured me it was not bacon, just chopped up bits of lamb. She even said I can see why you have asked as it definitely looks like bacon. As soon as I had one piece, I immediately knew it was bacon. I went back again and told them it was 100% bacon and they couldnt tell me otherwise! The chef looked red faced as their manager discussed the situation with him, which she came back to me to offer me anything else off the menu. I changed for the steak, however my appetite was completely shut down from this experience. Very poor form to lie about what ingredients are in something!!! Im not sure if the chef was having a secret giggle knowing I was eating bacon when I shouldnt be - to have denied it the first time. More importantly, I hope they are aware of what they are even putting in other peoples food that they are cooking!! The manager was very apologetic and I appreciate her efforts in rectifying the situation.

Absolutely everything was exactly how you’d want a hotel to be

The staff were excellent. Beachie restaurant food was very good. Compliments to the chef. Our room was clean.

Nothing.

Clean, nice decor, fish tank, warm large pool and spa, large restaurant, beautiful views, live music, football on TV and good number of bars.

Smelt like a sewer on entry. Very loud doors which meant I couldn’t sleep as people came and left the hotel at all hours. Downstairs room was awful with no window and I felt very claustrophobic! Reception moved us to a carpark room and it was better.
