Unfortunately, my most recent stay was very disappointing, and the standard I experienced this time was considerably below what I had previously come to expect from the hotel. During my stay, the power repeatedly cut out. In all of my previous visits to Rwanda—four in total—I had never experienced this issue to this extent, particularly at a hotel of this standard and no generator. There were also several issues with what I would consider basic levels of service and attention to detail. I contacted reception and requested some milk for my coffee, explaining that powdered milk would have been perfectly acceptable. A few minutes later, I received a call informing me that the hotel did not have any. This was difficult to understand, particularly when there appeared to be sufficient milk available during breakfast service. I also requested an additional pillow because the pillow provided was far too soft. I was told that the request would be made, but if nobody came, I should assume that the hotel did not have a spare pillow. I found this response quite surprising. For a hotel of this calibre and price range, I would reasonably expect basic additional amenities such as spare pillows to be readily available. I am left wondering whether there has been a change in management or standards at the hotel, because the overall experience was noticeably different from my previous visits. I want to stress that the staff themselves were professional, kind and attentive, and I have no criticism of their attitude or manner. My concerns are primarily with the overall management, facilities and level of service delivery. It is disappointing to see a hotel that I previously rated so highly fall short of the standards I had experienced before. Given the price of the accommodation, I expected considerably better. I will certainly think twice before choosing 2000 Hotel again on my future visits to Rwanda.
