A wonderful Japanese resort experience with so many great amenities! We had a lovely stay at TAOYA! The hotel seemed to be particularly popular among Japanese guests, which made the experience feel even more authentic. One important thing to know before booking is that not all rooms have private bathrooms. The hotel has shared bathing facilities, so if you prefer having your own bathroom, make sure to book a room that specifically includes one. We chose a room with a private bathroom. Although the bathroom looked a little more dated than in the photos, it was clean, comfortable, and perfectly functional. The view from our room was beautiful! The food was another highlight of our stay. There was an impressive variety of dishes, and everything we tried was delicious. What really impressed us was the number of facilities and activities available. Massage chairs, complimentary ice cream and drinks, table tennis, karaoke rooms, and many other amenities made the experience even more enjoyable. There was always something to do! Overall, TAOYA is a beautiful resort with excellent facilities, delicious food, and a relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it, especially to those looking for a traditional Japanese resort experience with plenty of modern comforts!

Das Onsen war sehr gut, ist auch der USP dieses Hotels. Dazu wundervolle Lage direkt am Wasser und sehr schöne Atmosphäre. Dinner war ebenfalls gut und variantenreich.

Es sind so ein paar Details, die ich nicht so gut fand: Kein Wasser auf den Zimmern, kein Bad (man setzt ausschließlich auf das Onsen), unbequeme Kopfkissen, Frühstück war okay (hätten wir am Anfang der Reise nicht gesagt, aber inzwischen wissen wir, was da möglich ist 😏).

The building and the partial sea view

We stayed in the hotel's most premium room/suite but were disappointed by the overall experience. There was no hot water when we arrived, the onsen towels were hidden away on the other side of the suite, there was no coffee in the room or available in the lobby outside of fixed service hours, and the reception staff were not particularly helpful. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also unpleasant, as staff clearing tables repeatedly slammed plates and utensils, creating unnecessary noise during meals. When our daughter became unwell, we asked to take food from the restaurant to our room. The restaurant manager followed us to our room to collect the plates immediately, explaining that they could not provide meals for sick guests. We found this response lacking in compassion. The hotel is also isolated from the village, with no nearby store to purchase basic essentials, making the situation even more difficult. Overall, we expected a much higher standard of service and hospitality for a premium stay.
