Palmeras del Río HOTEL

Amazing location right on the river in the jungle. So individual and such a special experience. Felt very remote and we loved it! The bathroom was fantastic- built right into the rock! Loved the sound of the jungle at night. Lovely dogs on the property and helpful staff. We had dinner every night family style for Q80 and breakfast for Q50. Great cooking. You can rent kayaks and the owner will help with booking tours and onwards travel

Communication before hand was a little sparse which made getting to the hostel confusing. You first have to get to Rio dulce and then catch a Lancha boat taxi at 2:30pm. We missed the last public boat, but this was fine as got a collective boat and just waited for it to be full to go for a similar price. It was also a little humid and damp due to no fan but that is part of the experience!

Nous ne sommes pas restés pour des problèmes de santé. Mais le gardien nous a beaucoup aidé pour trouver un endroit proche de l'hôpital à Puerto Barrios. Donc merci.

Il ne m'était pas possible de monter toutes les marches. Ce qui a justifié notre départ.

L'emplacement de l'hôtel noyé dans une jungle magnifique au bord du Rio Dulce, la gentillesse et l'accueil de Jaime et les bons dîners du cuisinier.

L'impression désolante que les propriétaires de l'hôtel ne peuvent plus ou ne veulent plus investir dans cet hôtel qui a pourtant un beau potentiel.

We actually stayed in the owners other place (Finca Tatin) close to Palmeras since there was an issue with a water pipe and a tree. We were promised more comfort for the same price. We didn’t see Palmeras, but Finca Tatin was quite run down tbh. Our little bungalow (which had 2 floors) was very basic which was fine, the shower was so shabby that it looked dirty and in desperate need of some renovation. They also offer a gym and a padel court. Nice addons, It all looked past its glory days though. The location is wonderful, alongside a small river in the middle of the jungle. Despite the shabbiness we had a lovely stay there. The staff very friendly and helpful. The shared space where you can hangout and have drinks and food is really nice (and really not run down at all). It’s easy to book transport and activities and it’s all well organized.

Our bungalow was quite run down, especially the bathroom.
