Lo splendore dei Sassi

Great location in the old town of Matera. Restaurants, churches, shops on your door step. Within minutes you have the fantastic panoramic view of Matera.

Taking your rubbish with you at the end was a bit awkward.

The view of the balcony is so stunning, exactly the same as the picture.

The location was great with nice views of the old city

Nothing it was great

The location was great — right in the Sassi and close to everything. Even with loud music nearby, the room was quiet, and the water pressure was good.

But overall the stay wasn’t very accommodating. It was 38°C/100°F when I arrived, and since you can’t park in the old town, it’s a long walk with bags from the parking areas. I got there about an hour before check‑in, but early check‑in wasn’t possible — she told me it wasn’t allowed and that check‑in is strictly ‘as listed on Booking.’ Ironically, the iron that was listed on Booking wasn’t available when I asked. Communication only picked up once I reached out; they said they tried contacting me on WhatsApp but had the wrong number, which was strange since no other host had that issue. The AC wasn’t very strong, and because the electricity only works with the key in the slot, the room couldn’t cool while I was out — not ideal during a heat wave, and it took a while to cool down each time I returned.
