Banchan Hostel

The place was really quiet. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm with one other person, and I didn't see anybody else on that floor. That person left the following day, so I had the dorm entirely to myself for the rest of my stay. The place is located a little outside the city center, which wasn't a problem for me since I enjoy walking. The area itself was calm and quiet. The bed was comfortable, and the room had reliable A/C and Wi-Fi. A light breakfast was also included, consisting of bread, bananas, jam, butter, and coffee or tea. It was basic, but definitely appreciated, especially considering the price. The common areas were also really nice and inviting, with hammocks and small coffee tables spread around the property. There were several pleasant spots where you could sit and relax. Overall, it was a good option for someone looking for a quiet place to stay away from the busiest parts of the city.

Regarding check-in, I had sent my expected arrival time in advance and it had been approved. However, when I arrived, nobody was there to greet me. I had to wait outside for about 20 minutes while it was heavily raining. Fortunately, there was a roof where I could stay somewhat protected from the rain. I eventually received a reply via WhatsApp, and the host was able to open the door remotely so I could get inside. I still had to wait until later in the evening to complete the actual check-in. Please note that the host does not speak English, so communication can be a little difficult. We had to contact her daughter when I needed help or advice. Fortunately, her daughter was very caring and helpful. This is also not your typical hostel if you're looking for a social atmosphere. There isn't really a common hostel environment where you meet other travelers or can easily ask the host for recommendations. For me, this wasn't necessarily a problem, but it's something to keep in mind depending on what you're looking for.

Very relaxing and homey stay really close to the historic attractions. The wifi was fast and stable, the rental bike was fast and dependable, and the AC was so nice it was tempting to miss some of the sights. The host and fellow travelers were lovely. There's a covered semi-outdoor space to chill or stretch. Walking distance to 7-11, a water machine, a vegan Khao gang restaurant, and the sights. Better to rent a bicycle though. Will stay here again for sure. Ayutthaya is incredible, too!

Cette guesthouse est superbe, typique (style colonial) et bien aménagée. Il y a beaucoup d'espace, canapés et fauteuils au rez de chaussée. Les chambres sont grandes (avec casiers individuels). Le couchage est excellent tout comme le wifi. Le check in et chech out est très souple (possibilité de laisser ses bagages et prendre une douche avant de récupérer un bus ou un train en soirée). Le petit-déjeuner est bien: boissons chaudes, lait, confiture, petits gâteaux sucrés, bananes. Des vélos sont à disposition moyennant (60B/jour).

Cette guesthouse est assez éloignée de tout: la station de bus et la gare sont loin et les sites idem (vélo ou deux-roues indispensable). La propriétaire d'un certain âge est sympathique mais elle ne parle pas anglais. La restauration est limitée dans la zone, quelques resto de rue thai (peu de gens parlent anglais dans cette localité). Un restaurant plus classique se trouve à 5mn à pied mais il ferme à 17h.
