We ended up extending our stay at Danara Homestay from one night to two. Danara is a great host who has two cute small dogs and plenty of local contacts, making it super easy to book transport or activities directly through her. The included breakfast was impressive and completely exceeded our expectations, offering much more than typical complimentary spreads. She also offers home-cooked dinners, which we didn't try since we ate out, but I'm sure they are just as good. The room was clean, equipped with working AC, and had a large, comfortable bathroom with no issues at all. Right outside the room, there's a nice little terrace with two loungers and a table to relax in the evening, as well as a hammock under the palm trees in the garden. It’s a very comfortable spot to stay, and we really enjoyed our time here

We loved this guesthouse! Tucked away in a little corner of the jungle, it's beautiful, with a really well-kept garden. The room is spacious, with a view of the garden from both the room and the terrace. You're truly surrounded by nature, no busy road nearby, which is exactly what makes it so special. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to restaurants, wood carving shops, an ATM, a mini-market, basically everything you need. Breakfast is delicious and generous, and you can choose what time you'd like it, even before sunrise if you're heading up for the rock climb. But what we loved most is how accommodating the owner is. She can arrange anything for you: taxis, dinner, what to visit and in what order, at what time of day. She's just wonderful. And everything actually works out cheaper if you book through them: their driver has his own car and is 20-30% cheaper than PickMe, dinner is 1500 rupees per person, and the safari is cheaper than through an agency too, with a private jeep, and the driver makes sure to head toward the areas in the park with the fewest other jeeps around the elephants. A special mention for her driver, Amal, who picked us up in Anuradhapura, took us to Pidurangala and Polonnaruwa, then all the way to Trincomalee. We loved him. He negotiated the bike rental price for us, gave us tips and explanations, stopped wherever and whenever we wanted, and we laughed and chatted so much along the way. Thank you both for everything, and to anyone reading this: go without hesitation. These people are incredibly welcoming and helpful, they'll genuinely make your stay so much easier and better.

Very comfortable room with air conditioning, mosquito net, and a nice big bed. Located in the jungle where you can see monkeys and relax on the terrace. We had a traditional dinner (rice & curry) which was very good. Breakfast is included. The place is close to the main road and 15 min drive to the Lion’s Rock. Other restaurants close by as well. I really liked our stay there, surrounded by nature with very nice hosts.

Having a kettle in the room would have been a plus but if you ask the host, she will provide a hot water.
