B&B Hotel Cambridge South

Lovely clean room, easy to book and priced right. Easy to find and plenty of parking albeit expensive.

Few problems, room I had was I was on ground floor next to bar and the patrons were rather noisy which disturbed my sleep until early hours. £10 for parking is a bit steep and room starting to show some work needed(walls marks and bathroom).

1. Initial contact at check in was not great - HOWEVER things got much better once appropriate staff became available. 2. The £10 pre paid breakfast deal is worth it. Staff member BECKY was cheery and helpful at breakfast. All food on buffet breakfast is topped up regularly by attentive staff. On our last day there was no large bowl of fruit salad available ( which had been on previous 2 days) there was no new substitute available and this was a definite downside to service - the few tiny pieces of melon ( which were a available) each day just looked sad! 3. Extra pillows were provided on request and when sitting in reception you could hear staff dealing with enquiries from other guests and all enquiries were dealt with promptly and with care. 4. I had booked this hotel on recommendation of a friend staying in a nearby village- originally I thought it was a good location for me just for the specific reason of my visit - however it was ideal for visiting central Cambridge ( 7 mins on train) and the train links make it a great place to centre yourself for further visits. The hotel is almost on the train platform so when staying there it makes sense to take advantage of the inter connectivity it provides. While handy for the train station it is quite isolated from other commercial places - so don't expect to leave the hotel and go for a walk round the local shops! 5. The B&B hotel chain have that common policy of not cleaning rooms during a stay unless requested in order to save the planet. However I do feel that a 4 day 3 night stay should automatically come with cleaning and towel changes without the need to request this. 6. I had booked via Booking.com and requested that my room was not on ground floor. This was provided - though the first floor room had a miserable view - straight into waiting room on platform of train station - I have often thought that when booking using a 3rd party website you always get the least attractive rooms!

Small problem with the lighting in the room bulbs had blown in the room and could do with 2 more pillows .

breakfast was good

Shower soaps were empty which was annoying, room wasn't ready when we got there, check in was slow.
