The Golden Lion at Settle

Lovely clean room that provided everything for our stay. The food was delicious, there was 1 vegetarian in the group and good choice available. Staff were friendly, organised and professional.

Great location and very good fire

Overly lit - ideal if you want to read a book but I think 1/2 the lights could be turned off.

The Golden line was perfectly situated in the middle of the town. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The food was excellent and home-cooked. A roaring log fire added to the warmth and ambience of the Pub especially on a rainy chilly autumn evening.

There was nothing that I didn’t like

Huge, well appointed room, magnificent beer and food, good breakfast incl. coffee.

The shower was a bit weedy (not enough pressure), but the main issue was a cold room. Took this up with the staff on arrival, who said the heating would come on later and also that they had put the boiler on boost. The radiators stayed stone cold all night and we had to make do with one 2kw convector heater which had dangerous broken feet. By breakfast time this raised the room to normal temperature. The weather had just changed (end of summer) and it seemed like they had been caught out by a cold snap, but the staff showed little interest in our request for more/some heat.
