It was a beautiful old farmhouse with steep thatched Gassho Zukjuri roof and wonderful wooden interior with tatami mats and other traditional items. The hospitality was both excellent and very kind , and the food was superb . The village of Ainokura is a beautiful, precious place with kind locals .
Nothing to report . I am not used to sleeping on futon, but it turned out to be fine .

Wonderful experience in a beautiful house in the most amazing village. Hosts were very welcoming and nice.
Dinner and breakfast were amazing. Everything was very clean.
The whole experience of spending a night in one of those beautiful villages, was one of a kind.

This is a really sweet place - very much like staying with a family in the countryside in Japan.
The lady who looks after you is so sweet. She’s so eager to make you comfortable and makes all the food and presents it so beautifully - you can see the care she takes to make it.
The futons are on the floor and not the most comfortable (but not completely uncomfortable either if that makes sense!)

It was definitely the highlight of our almost 3 weeks in Japan. It was such a unique experience. Our host was amazing. The home was beautiful and authentic. Was like a museum inside and out. Dinner and breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The home was cozy warm and beds so comfortable. Can't fault our stay. We want to go back!
