Hotel Alpina

View was unmatched! Great food, great staff at your hotel. It couldn't have been better!

Honestly, there was nothing that we disliked.

There's a lot to be said for stepping out on one's balcony and being confronted with a towering, craggy Alpine view above and the verdant Lauterbrunnen valley below. What a breathtaking experience! The room could've been a fleabag (it most certainly was not!) but with that view who'd care? The Alpina was about equidistant from the train back to Lauterbrunnen and the cable car up to Birg and the Schilthorn, each about a 15-minute walk away. There's a handy COOP supermarket about 10 minutes away, useful for buying a monster Toblerone bar for a dear friend whom I was soon to be seeing for our high school class reunion. My room was a very comfortable single with a big-enough bathroom and plenty of hot water in the shower. The breakfast was excellent with a large choice. I also ate dinner in the same room, watching the evening sun climb up to crown the Alpine peak across the valley from my window side table. The traditional Swiss Rösti baked potatoes and cheese entrée was superb. An evening stroll in the cooling fresh air up to see the town's two picturesque churches crowned my night before rising bright and early to beat the tourist rush up the Schilthorn, location for many scenes in the best James Bond movie ever made, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." And the Hotel Alpina was the perfect place to set out to explore the familiar location.

I should've booked at least one additional night, so Wonderfull relaxing was my experience! But that's not the hotel's fault. It was mine. The Alpina did its best to assure I won't make that mistake again!

The view from my room's balcony was the best. We enjoyed sitting outside. The air was very fresh. Night time was peaceful.

The size of the room is very small.

It’s close to the station, and if the weather is good, you can see the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau right in front of you. Breakfast was good too.

There is no elevator, so carrying heavy luggage up to the 4th floor was quite a struggle.
