Montagu Country Hotel

Hotel avec un style très original, on s’y sent bien. Le personnel est au petit soin. Hotel et Chambres très spacieuses, 2 coins piscines dans jardin fleuri bien entretenu. Bon diner avec dressage tables et plats impeccable. Petit dejeuner bon et copieux. Mention spéciale pour les bieres pressions artisanales du coin disponible au bar, assez rare. Très bon moment passé avec notre fille de 3 ans.

Piscines qui auraient mérité d’etre un peu mieux nettoyés mais ca ne nous a pas empeché de nous rafraichir dedans 🤩

The hotel is right in the center of Montagu. It is a small town, and most places a visitor would want to see, including the town's best restaurants, are a short walk away. The secure onsite parking for guests was a real plus. Staff were welcoming and offered us a drink on arrival. Our room was clean overall, the beds were comfortable, and it had everything we needed for a one-night stay. We would recommend the hotel to travelers looking for old school charm that fits the character of Montagu. We had to leave before breakfast service starts at 7:30 am, which seemed a little late to us, so we were very thankful that the staff prepared a bagged breakfast for us to take along. They also accommodated our request to leave pork out of our meals, which we appreciated. The location is excellent, with nearly everything in town close by.

We booked the deluxe twin, one of the most expensive rooms, and it did not feel exceptional for the price. The main differences seemed to be a little more space and a couch, which was quite old. We respect the antique character of the hotel, and it does suit the town, but the room and bathroom needed a good dusting and a refresh. We had booked twin beds and found them pushed together as a king. The soaps came in large bottles instead of individual minis and were not great. A thorough dusting and a light refresh of the rooms and bathrooms would go a long way without losing the antique charm. Better toiletries would help, as would setting up the beds as booked. An earlier breakfast start would suit guests with early departures. For the top room category we expected more to set it apart, and next time we would probably book a cheaper room.

Breakfast was good and the waiters were friendly. They checked on us regularly and always smiled we even spoke to the chef who was very friendly too. The toilet was clean and the shower was spacious and we could take nice hot showers when we wanted.

Carpets were smelly and needed a good deep clean. The stench of dirty carpets in the bedroom was overwhelming. the king size bed was very hard and uncomfortable. it would be better and more healthy to remove the carpets and put new main bed in room. A direct phone in the room to kitchen/reception would've been great for room service. Breakfast should've been included. Pillows were old and saggy which left me with a stiff neck. The jacuzzi we had to pay for and it was very small and dated fits two small people, the jacuzzi room needs better ventilation and is too small, felt like a dungeon.
