The Angel Posting House & Livery

The hotel is in a very old house, all rooms are different. It has a very nice cozy vibe. We (a group of four) had two different rooms. Both were good-sized, one particularly big, and with big bathrooms. I particularly like the old-fashioned environment, and the old-fashioned hotel experience of every day room cleaning, so unlike the modern hotel chains. Also every day the tea and coffee bags, and also a couple of water bottles are renewed. There is a kettle there so making oneself a tea is a breeze. Bed is comfortable and service is good. We asked for two separate duvets on the reservation and got them, and also they asked on check-in about them and if they were ok. Nice attention to detail. Of course the best point of the hotel is location, I won't say a lot about it, it's just in the center of the town. We got rooms opening to an inner court, so there was no street noise, your experience may be different, check with the hotel first if it's important for you.

There was a bit of old-house air stuffiness that required some continuous ventilation. Some of the windows were not well maintained. One of the rooms had a safe that was locked so we couldn't use it, the other had none, I don't really know if it's a standard service of the hotel or not, I mention so that you check first, if it's important for you. The shower in our room was just an overhead shower head, no position control, but that's quite standard in the UK, believe.

Great location. We got upgraded to bridal suite which was large and very comfortable. Staff responded very quickly to our requests. Very comfortable bed. Restaurant downstairs was very good.

A bit noisy between 6:00 and 10:00, with cabaret happening down the hall - until they closed the door at 10 pm. Noisy traffic down the hall after the show finished.

Great location, easy access to the underground train, good breakfast, bed was comfortable.

Nothing much to highlight

gorgeous old building - a real piece of history. Room was spacious. Mattress was very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Bathroom and plumbing was old and tired - hot/cold water and water flow was very difficult. Bath was old and peeling paint on outside. Bedroom lighting was not good. TV did not even have mainstream channels and certainly no satellite or ability to cast. Our luxury suite had two giant front-facing bay windows. The room was super hot and we had two very small tower fans in there which did little to nothing. The High Street outside is super noisy at all hours - certainly from check-in until 11pm when pallets were onloading on the cobbles! A shop alarm at 5pm added to the tension! This meant it was hard to leave windows open (plus they are huge sash windows so take some effort) without being drowned out with noise, but with them shut the air was stifling inside. It was not a luxury stay at all. Rest of hotel is OK but tired. No facilities - just an original staircase/corridor and room.
