Bien mais aura besoin d’etre remis à jour
Tres bonne premiere impression, classe apparente, elegance…

Clean and well-maintained hotel with a public onsen. The hotel and the room feels a bit dated and run-down, but still in good shape. The room (single) was large, it had good toilet and shower in the bathroom. There is a nice little balcony behind the sliding screen door, with two chairs and a table and a wardrobe. Traditional Japanese robes offered to the guests were nice and fit well.
Plenty of towels to use in the onsens. Also free personal grooming kits with everything the reasonable person requires to keep him or herself presentable :)
Onsens were great, with slightly varied temperatures between the outside and inside ones, so we could try a warm bath or a scalding hot one depending on our mood, with a bonus of a sauna and an extremely hot one, apparently catering for real sportsmen and women of steel.
Great breakfast; our family enjoyed the variety of food offered. The room had a kettle and a selection of teas and coffee in bags.
The staff was extremely nice and welcoming, featuring a New Zealand girl to meet and greet English-speaking guests, plus two Lovots (Miniature robots shaped like obese penguins on wheels with humanoid faces, large expressive eyes and flapping flippers, - whose whole existence is justified by being loved, i.e. talked to, handled and caressed. Our little daughter was thrilled even though she does not speak Japanese, and robots do not understand English.)
The location of the hotel is very nice, with a lot of greenery around, and a short walk to the famous 365 steps - up to a Shinto shrine, down to the shops and bus stop.
The whole hotel, or at least the part we stayed in as the whole enterprise has as far as I could tell at least three separate buildings interconnected by walkways, looks and feels a bit dated and out of fashion. Worn-out walls and sliding screens with marks here and there, and the typical smell of a very old hotel, albeit faint. The room we stayed in featured not only the mattresses on the traditional Japanese floor of straw mats, but also kind of s bunk beds behind the sliding screen; the kids were initially keen to sleep there, but when they tried, they found that it is impossible to survive in there. There is no ventilation, nor is there a way to climb the stairs to the upper bunk and the bottom bunk is just too claustrophobic and dusty. So all four of us shared the floor after a few failed attempts at privacy,
It also lacks one basic modern facility - namely, a coin laundry, - and one has to hire a taxi to drive to the nearest one. Some features, i.e. a videotelephone in a walkway, apparently belonged to an era of early space exploration. The town around the hotel also looks a bit run-down, with some decrepit houses and a billboard in a small street advertising nude girls - either for show or something else - which no longer exists, but the sign is still there as a historical marker of some bygone era, with clientele somewhat wealthier and less uptight.
The famous 365 steps one has to walk from the lowest point, where the bus station and Lawson mini-mart are located, to the top, where the Ikaho shrine is, may look great in a photo, but they are steep and not particularly pleasant to climb up and down a few times a day. On the bright side, they kind of balance the heavy breakfasts, so one cannot gain too much weight.

It’s a glamorous hotel right next to 石段街. Room is comfortable and very clean. Briefings from front desk were clear, hence it’s not difficult to manoeuvre the way around the buildings. Excellent buffet breakfast!
It would be convenient to onsen users if amenities are available inside onsens; and ramp should be installed next to staircase to allow easy accessibility for guests with luggage to commute between the Main and Annex buildings.

The hotel is neat, clean & has wide variety of amenities to choose for your skin care as japanese standard.
There's ramen shop opening from 8 pm. til night in hotel, in case u dont order for hotel's dinner, because there're few shops opening in the night & u might walk to the base of stairs to have dinner.
Convenient store also is near the base of stairs.
They provide 2 types of onsen water (gold; Iron-rich water & silver water) which is the main point to be in Ikaho.
View from hotel is great.
There r staffs speaking English.
Providing a big bottle of mineral water in room is super lovely.
If u have big luggage and use public transportation, u have to search for its "parking lots" to walk there [8 min from base of stair] or there may be pick-up service.
Because there're 2 entrances: 1. Stone stair entrance which is almost on the 300th step; 2. The entrance via parking lot which is for driving or carrying big luggage there.
The rotemburo is quite small.
Walking to onsen bath is quite distant if u stay in other bldgs.
The breakfast options are good esp. if u are fan of japanese food.
No basic amenity e.g. body soap etc. in ur room. [But u come to use onsen, right?]
Convenient store is at base of stair.
