The Barnstaple Hotel

Good choice of food for breakfast, fruit, croissants, cooked breakfast and good selection of juices.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Looks like something form the 1960s from the outside, but very spacious and modern inside. Pleasantly surprised by the overall quality or all the facilities. Food choices were good.

Most of the food was excellent, except anything fried, we had Garlic bread for dinner and hash browns for breakfast and both were not eaten as the oil needed changing. The beer selection could have been a little less boring and the we could not have the wine we wanted as "no-one usually orders it" so it was not chilled!

Food was good. Pools looked nice but didn't use them. The room was spacious and nice to have a balcony. The entrance to the Arlington Suite looked good.

Glad we were only there one night. Room was a long walk away from entrance and no lift. It was very expensive for its condition which was dated and with dirty marks/stains on the soft furnishings, e.g. bed runner and cushions. The bathroom was fully internal but the extractor fan didn't work and clearly something not quite right with the drains as the bath filled up when you had a shower. These and other basic issues should be resolved by a thorough cleaning team and a good maintenence person. The white wooden planks on the balconies gave it look a holiday camp look. It would benefit from updating to be at the price point it was.
