Zimmer waren nicht mehr ganz so modern

LOCATION: EXCELLENT. For visitors/pilgrims to the Santuario Francescano in Monte La Verna, who choose to base themselves in Chiusi della Verna and wish to visit the Santuario Francescano by walking the Cammino di San Francesco/Via di Francesco up through the national park, Hotel Da Giovanna has the best location in Chiusi della Verna. The path throught the national park leading up to the Santuario Francescano starts at the very doorstep of Hotel Da Giovanna. You couldn't do better. BREAKFAST: Simple but healthy breakfast, with gluten-free options. RESTAURANT: The restaurant has a good menu for lunch and dinner, with one or two interesting Portuguese options, too. The space has a nice, chalet-like feel, with a semi-outdoor area protected by wooden-framed windows, and is always welcoming local visitors, including those staying at other hotels. And then there's the gelato, of course. STAFF: This is Hotel Da Giovanna's greatest strength. Mr Faust and his entire team ~ Anya, Ricardo, the kind chef in the kitchen whom we did not meet in person, Chindu and Ampali ~ welcome their guests and make them feel at home.

Italy in summer/autumn has a problem with mosquitoes. It would, therefore, help if the windows in the guest bedrooms had protective netting, so that one could keep the windows open for fresh air through the night without getting bitten.

Pilgrim walking trail, hotel is right on trail. Had dinner and breakfast there 2 days. Both were good service and food. Beautiful location, quite overnight.

Our toilet seat was loose. A fan in room would have been nice.
