The service at front desk and restaurant was cold and unfriendly. I've seen much better hospitality in 5-star hotels. Given the remote location, I expected a warmer welcome and better food. The food was a letdown. I’ve stayed in colder, more isolated parts of Sikkim that served much better meals with more variety and pleasant attitude. Basic items like room slippers were not provided. While the property has a nice vintage charm, it fails to provide the basic comfort and warmth of a luxury resort where guests spend extra to enjoy themselves.

Bathroom was not up to the mark

The Elgin Pelling is a beautiful hotel set in a stunning location. The surroundings are magnificent, and the property itself has a lot of charm. The rooms are very elegant, spacious and beautifully decorated. Overall, the hotel has all the qualities you would expect from an establishment of this category.

Breakfast service was a major disappointment, particularly during busy days. Upon arriving at breakfast, it was often difficult to find a clean, properly prepared table. Tables were left dirty, used dishes were not cleared away, and the overall organisation was extremely poor. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed, disoriented and inefficient, struggling to manage the number of guests. The situation was frustrating and significantly detracted from the overall experience. For a hotel of this standard, the breakfast service is simply not acceptable and falls well below expectations.
