Bronze Bungalows

We had a really lovely stay here in Gili Meno. The place is very cute, cozy and welcoming. I’m not sure if it is family-run, but everyone who manages the place is incredibly kind and welcoming. Daniel was always around and available whenever we needed anything. You can rent bicycles, masks and fins directly from him, and he is happy to help with pretty much anything you might need. The rooms are simple Indonesian-style bungalows. The cleanliness is not perfect, and the room is not cleaned every day or towels changed daily. We stayed for only two nights, so this was absolutely fine for us. I think some of this is also a matter of different standards compared to what we are used to in Europe. The location is very convenient: it’s only about a 2-minute walk from the arrival port, which was great with our luggage. It is not directly on the beach, but literally a few steps outside the property you have the beautiful sea right in front of you. The outdoor area is really lovely. There isn’t a huge amount to do on Gili Meno, so after dinner we often spent a couple of hours relaxing on the porch in the hammock. It was actually one of our favourite parts of the stay. Breakfast is included and was really good. The banana pancakes are absolutely amazing — I’m honestly going to miss them a lot! Overall, a lovely and authentic place to stay if you want to experience the relaxed and natural side of Gili Meno. Daniel’s kindness and availability really made our stay special, and the location is excellent.

As is common throughout Gili Meno, there is no fresh water for showering, so you have to wash with salt water coming directly through the pipes. Because of this, some of the taps and fixtures are a little worn, and sometimes there is not enough water pressure or quantity for a proper shower. They provide large bottles of drinking water that you can use to rinse yourself, and honestly, it was much easier than we expected. The outdoor bathroom is also spacious and clean, so it was not a big problem for us during our two-night stay. We did have a few geckos in the room that woke us up a couple of times during the night with their singing, but this is something you have to expect given the natural environment of the island. There is a mosquito net over the bed, which can be completely closed, so we still felt comfortable. There is currently some construction work next door, but they mostly work by hand, so it was not disturbing at all during our stay.

The wooden bungalows are beautiful, spacious with huge, firm beds and great air-con. We loved the outdoor bathroom and hammock.

Cleaning of rooms was sporadic- a daily sweep and mop would be an easy fix. The property would be gorgeous if the open space and gardens were nurtured like other properties nearby.
