Hotel Rivalago

The breakfasts were excellent. Location is amazing and a short walk to the ferry which goes every 15 mins to Mote Isola. Possible to swim in lake from hotel jetty and we hired their e-bikes for the day (expensive though, €50 PP) and you can hire paddleboards. Views amazing. Would love to have seen the rooms in the main house overlooking the lake. We had an apartment at the back overlooking the carpark.

Our apartment had a 5ft bed which was too small for us but although some apartments we found out had a sofabed, we had a small chaise longue which was impossible to sleep on. We both had colds so we got very little sleep but the hotel was fully booked.

The view from the hotel was absolutely beautiful. Sitting on the sun loungers with the lake right in front of you was so relaxing, and the pool was perfect for cooling off. Our room was lovely and had everything we needed, including a big shower and a really comfortable bed. We loved taking the boat over to Monte Isola. It’s such a charming little island, with friendly locals, and a lovely place to explore and walk around. The food at the restaurant, which is separate from the hotel, was superb. One of our favourite memories was dining outside surrounded in candle light in the enclosed area while watching a storm pass by — such a cool experience! A fabulous place to stay and the perfect setting to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time!

The room was a little on the small side, although this was clearly mentioned when booking, so we were aware beforehand. It would also have been nice to have a few more gluten-free options at breakfast, particularly things like pastries, as the choice was quite limited.

Superb! Prosecco at breakfast was lovely as we had two very special celebrations there. The lake view was lovely.

Dinner was expensive and disappointing ! Didn’t live up to breakfast ! Service excellent, but food over engineered ! We were hoping for dinner every evening especially on our celebration days. Our great apartment and terrace was up two flights of stairs with no lift. Although we are 80 we managed and they did take our casas up and down after we asked. We feel we should have been told about the stairs.
