Hotel Castel Vecchio

The view of the lake is beautiful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The road passing the hotel is busy and the noise from the traffic can be a bother but our room was facing the lake and thus peaceful. The breakfast was standard European.

There was no hand soap in the bathroom. Also there were no towels by the pool and the bar service by the pool was non existent. The furniture on the different patios were worn and not very inviting. Is seems like the hotel prioritizes conference guests rather than ordinary holiday guests. There’s no restaurant for ordinary guests.

L’hôtel nous a informé seulement à notre arrivée que nous ne pourrions pas avoir accès pendant 2 jours sur 3 aux salles à manger pour le midi et le soir pendant notre séjour étant donné que ces endroits avaient été loués en exclusivité à des tiers. L’hôtel ne nous a offert en plus aucune compensation pour ce vol de privilège légitime pour lequel nous avions payé. Enfin, sans avertissement préalable, nous n’avons pas pu nous relocaliser adéquatement ailleurs même avec l’aide de Booking.com.

Beautiful hotel close to the town of Castel Gandolfo. Roof top pool which was great with the high temps this Summer. Great aircon, beds were extremely comfortable. Rooms were recently renovated.

The views are very nice. Location is good and somewhat walkable to the city center. It is around 10 mins walk which was not a problem for us but there is no proper sidewalk and it's quite uncomfortable/unsafe? to walk after sunset.

You can see the hotel used to be good. However, right now it's quite old and too big for the staff that maintains it. You can see it everywhere, reception, cleaning, general state of the rooms. When we checked in and entered the room, we immediately noticed 2 room fans (why would you need those in hotel with A/C in the amenities list?) You need those because A/C is not cooling at all, either it has no cooling liquid or it is turned off centrally, who knows. Our room did not change temperature at all after full night of being on (room temp remained at 26,5C and A/C was set to 19C). It is really a shame, this hotel would have been really good place to stay if maintained properly. But until then, I would not recommend.
