Als je in de avond naar het stadje wil is het niet zo prettig lopen in het donker door het park. Afstand is zeer goed te doen.

Sehr schönes Hotel in schöner Lage Gutes Restaurant dabei. Schade, dass es zum Schwimmen zu kühl war.

The hotel is in a peaceful, quiet location surrounded by nature, with plenty of parking space. I knew beforehand that it was outside the centre of Tecklenburg, and the walk into town turned out to be very pleasant. The staff were friendly, breakfast was adequate, and the room was generally what I expected.

Several aspects could be improved, particularly cleanliness and housekeeping. The entrance signage was confusing. A sign directed guests towards a side entrance marked “hotel entrance”, but when I rang the bell, I was told that check-in was through the main entrance and that the side entrance was for guests who had already checked in. Clearer signs would avoid this misunderstanding. There was a very thick layer of dust behind the television, which was disappointing and below the standard of cleanliness I would expect from a hotel. The bed was not particularly comfortable, and the sheets and pillows felt noticeably worn and in need of replacement. My room was not serviced at any point during my stay, despite leaving the sign out requesting housekeeping. I did not raise this separately with reception, as I did not want to interrupt my plans, but I would have expected the request on the door to be enough. There were also mosquitoes in the room. Given the natural surroundings, this is understandable, but insect screens on the windows or balcony doors would make a difference. More concerning were the flying insects around the food at breakfast. Better protection for the food and measures to keep insects away would improve hygiene and make breakfast more pleasant.
