Jugendherberge Aachen - Membership required

I LOVE the location high up amongst trees and with a cosy yard between the old and new buildings - situated in a lush and pretty part of Aachen. Roadside parking, not on the premise, but surprisingly never had a problem to find parking space. Probably the very best was the friendliness of the lady at the reception: I knew I would arrive much later than originally planned, so I phoned in advance and this lady made me already feel welcome even while I was still hundreds of kilometres away! Thank you! (tip: I was told, they really appreciate it if you phone in advance when you know you will be late!) Also I was lucky that I could share the room with another single travelling woman of similar age.

Beautiful hilly location. Surrounded by green vegetation. Calm neighbourhood. Elena is very welcoming😊👍

Peaceful secluded location, but a short bus ride from the centre of Aachen Extremely helpful staff Quite a big room for a hostel

Breakfast was good and typical of the youth hostel experience. The location initially appeared isolated, but after a long walk we found an excellent restaurant that salvaged the experience.

Hostel was a bit spartan, which is typical. We felt the location was isolated from the town, and far from any activities. Hostels can be a bit expensive these days in terms of the alternative accommodation offerings and require you to make the bed and unmake the bed. Good for youth, but not a learning experience for adults.
