We loved the location, the staff and the overall theme of the hotel. The gardens were beautiful.

As mentioned, we did enjoy our stay but it could be so much better (especially for the price we paid) with just a few tweaks. The room was lovely, however I would have appreciated real milk rather than the 80s peel back pods. The bathroom was a great size but again, some cotton wool type products would have been very welcome, especially as you are in the middle of nowhere. I asked reception for some cotton wool (as they say they stock things you may have forgotten) they didn't have any. Dinner/food was good but not consistent over the two days we stayed. It wasn't bad but not great either. Breakfast was buffet style, which is fine if the foot traffic is busy which it wasn't. Surely money could be saved on the food wasted during quieter times of the year and perhaps breakfast could be made to order? We felt that the bar had lost it's identity and there was nowhere in the bar/restaurant that felt like the 'bar area'. That said, the average age of residents was well into retirement age and perhaps this explains everything - the hotel is catering to the masses and we're not quite there yet!

Wedding on - nightmare for sleeping and relaxing, However they did pre warn us there was a wedding and offer alternative dates as it would be noisy (didn’t realise it would be so loud)

The property is in a lovely location and is a modern fresh hotel.

Our outdoor patio had not been cleaned and there was broken glass on the patio table with shards of glass everywhere and on the ground. The table also had drink stains on it. The food in the restaurant was very poor with king prawns over cooked and like rubber bullets. The cost of the food has risen considerably since our last visit. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and our friends had arranged a bottle of rose champagne. The server started pouring the champagne for us and did not tilt the glass so it over spilled all over the table, he left to get a cloth. When starting the second glass my husband suggested tilting the glass but he replied “we are told to leave the glass on the table” so the exact same thing happened again!!! This was an £80 bottle of champagne and a gift. I think the service was totally unacceptable and he was quite matter of fact and not apologetic…. Very poor!!! We had a spa day the next day which was excellent. The staff, service, value for money were all 100% better than the hotel. We have stayed at the hotel several times but would now not return. The spa is a definite to return.
