The Sands Hotel Hokianga

Very friendly staff. The room was a good size, nice big comfy bed, warm as. Nice wall lamps once I figured out how to work them.

The water in the shower is touchy, or otherwise I don't know how to control it properly. Also the shampoo and conditioner need to be mounted somewhere in the shower, not in the vanity drawer. ALSO, there was no soap. I had to ask for those after coming back from a long first day at my uncle's tangi. And the bathroom floor creaks badly. Also put a shelf or something in the shower. I noticed there's no phone in the unit so I had to phone reception on my mobile phone. The second night someone was parked in my immediate space and the ones all along that row of units. I wouldn't have minded but I have a disability and getting to my unit that night was a nuisance as some stairs were blocked off due to the current renovations.

Beautiful overnight stay. Spa was amazing. Bed was cosy and warm. Bathroom is stunning.

Beautiful waterfront location, updated units, great restaurant and bar, and a pool room! Excellent staff!

Our room upgrade wasn’t quite finished and no chairs. A rug or mat on the vinyl floor would be nice…perhaps that’s in the pipeline… we have booked an upgraded room for our next visit! 👍
