Pigeon Island Beach Resort

Rooms were big and hotel was so lovely to accommodate us next to each other in adjoining rooms. Rooms were clean and had aircon and a fridge. Rooms were virtually on the beach which was amazing and the beach is truly stunning and pretty much empty. Staff friendly and nice. Enjoyed watching the local wildlife - cows, monkeys and other creatures. You are about 10 mins tuk tuk out of town which is why the beach is stunning and empty but close enough to pop in.

Everything is a bit sad and tatty. Restaurant was not that good. Food took ages to come and wasn't all that great. You need to ideally go out for every meal. But town is not far so not a problem. If going with teens, consider being closer to town.

Clean water with clean sand,not crowded, proximity to beach, easy access, no rough waves recommend to enjoy with kid

we have stayed many times over the past years at Pigeon Island beach resort and watched it getting more tired each year , this year we could see the improvements that Kumar the manager has been able to achieve on a limited budget, the meals if from the set menu are very good and tasty , but we avoided the buffet when the hotel was a bit busier , breakfasts are good and freshly cooked eggs to your taste. The location is everything about this hotel , a large beach , clear warm waters and good for swimming if the sea is calm , we go just before the main season and occasionally the sea is a bit choppy and not safe for swimming. Over the past 12 years we have befriended a group of beach dogs and feed and give them water as they have nothing to do with the hotel , the dogs do not like the local people but are friendly towards the tourists , for obvious reasons , again mummy dog is carrying her latest litter , each year we hope she is able to be spayed but she is never at the stage it can be done.

could do with more sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach , and not over keen on the buffet which is offered when the hotel becomes busier , for us the quiet location is great , but be warned if you do not like being in a quiet area and require restaurants or shops Trincomalee is about 20 minutes by Tuk Tuk. Being off season the beach areas just a short way from the hotel are littered with plastic bottles and other rubbish , in the main season they are a lot cleaner.

- Chambre située dans une petite structure récente. Très spacieuse avec très (trop…) grand lit. - Petit balcon avec étendoir à linge. - En bord de plage déserte au sable fin et mer turquoise - Idéal pour se couper du monde

- Petit déjeuner très peu diversifié pour 2000 LSR/pers et quasi vide à 9h alors qu’il est ouvert jusqu’à 10:30 - Manque cruel de transats : à peine une vingtaine entre la piscine et la plage. - Idem pour les parasols : 2 à la piscine et 4 vieilles paillotes sur la plage. - L’hôtel dans son ensemble n’est pas la hauteur du standing de son prix. - Excentré de la ville. 1er restaurant accessible en tuktuk à environ. 10min mais le cœur de l’animation est à Trincomalee, 25 min en voiture vers le Sud
