Everything is great

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed it very much overall. It was low season, so the resort was quiet and fairly empty, which made it even more relaxing. The setting: It feels more like a green village than a hotel, with cottages and houses surrounded by greenery, water lilies and pools. Beautiful. Clean and well kept: The grounds and rooms were very clean and very well maintained. Excellent service: Whenever we asked for something, it came right away. Laundry service: Very efficient. We got our laundry back the same day. Location: Very close to the Van Long boat pier. We rented bicycles from the resort and rode there, which was great. The center of Ninh Binh is about 20-25 minutes away, and a taxi to town and back cost about 500,000 VND. Breakfast: Quite rich, with a good selection.

The mattress: Too soft, and it gave us some back pain. Slightly dated: The resort is a bit old and not very modern. Strong cinnamon smell: The room had been sprayed with a very strong cinnamon air freshener, and it took us a whole day to get rid of the smell. A lighter scent, or none at all, would be better. Restaurant: We had lunch there. It was fine, but nothing special.

The hotel main buildings and surroundings are simply beautiful. The rooms are organized in clusters, where several buildings make up a cluster and often these have an own little swimming pool. The hotel restaurant has a wide variety of food options which is good since it is the only restaurant.

I specifically asked for a quiet room when I checked in. What did they do? They placed me in a cluster with a loud group of boys. I had to change my room. A few days later, there was a company event where staff of some external company stayed at the resort and they truly behaved like animals and made noises all over the resort long into the night. Hotel offered to change the room again. That's simply not enough for the level of disturbance. This hotel has a bit of an identity crisis. Is it a party hotel or a relaxation hotel?
