Staff are very very friendly, and the building/interior is pretty & clean, breakfast was also good for the 1100 yen price. for 4950(+1100) yen a night in Hikone you can't get better than this.
The pillow was as beanie bag as it gets, and personally it wasn't a problem but people above 185cm could have trouble with the mattress/blanket size, besides that everything else was great.

The onsen was very nice and they had an assortment of manga you could read (in Japanese though). Also the food was very good and the owner was super nice and very patient as we tried to manage most of our stay with our limited Japanese. He also spoke good enough English to get everything done.
All in all one of our favourite stays on our trip.

スタッフさんが親切。朝食が手作り感があり、季節の物もついておいしかったです。
周辺の店で、酔ってる人の声が聞こえて騒がしかったのが気になった。
