Gorgeous location with Highland cows outside your window! Host Steve was so friendly and welcoming

Little bit of a trek to get to, but well worth the trip

Beautiful views, large room, continental breakfast was above average.

We knew it was a bit remote - it is but narrow road is not well travelled. A huge bathroom but small sink, no towel rack etc. Few plug in outlets. All minor nits.

The location was spectacular. Everything about it: remoteness, presence of hairy coos nearby, view from our room, clean air, local walks. The room was beautiful, clean and not fussy; incredible windows but also good dark curtains. Really nice bathroom and all the usual conveniences. Breakfast was in a delightful room also with big windows and our same view, and was self-serve (convenient!) cereal, oatmeal, toast/pastries, yogurt, fruit, cheese, ham, hardboiled eggs, tomatoes, milk, OJ, tea and coffee. There was a lovely background of a radio set at a low volume to what appeared to be Gaelic news. Soothing. Steve and Jacqueline, our hosts, were really nice and not intrusive, but answered questions helpfully. Local restaurant Peet's is a not-miss, as are Lochinver Larder's savory pies. A really nice near-ish place is Am Fuaran bar in Achiltinbuie. NB: 17 miles is about 45 minutes, here.

The only slightly strange thing was a mild sewer-gas like odor in the bathroom for the first 2 nights/days. There was a heavy rain and the next night/day, the odor was gone. Perhaps something about the rain changed the way that the sewage was draining? We did not mention it at the time as it was mild, and it did not interfere with our enjoyment.

Windows didn’t shut properly, noisy fan in bathroom. Minimal interaction with staff. We were there several minutes before someone showed up to ‘greet’ us. Comparing to even hotels stayed in recently poor value for money. We are staying in a hotel tonight including breakfast for a lot less & have done during the past week
