Amethyst Resort Passikudah

The staff and the overall hygiene.

The food could've been better. While the adjoining hotels which come at a similar cost have a private beach, this property has a public one which os quite crowded at times. And there was a constant smell of chlorine even in bathroom water.

The staff as usual (this is my 6th visit) were lovely and excellent. The Beach is great - especially for my grandchildren The dinner and breakfast have improved and its always great to have Sri Lankan food made well. The pool was good and it was great to see the crocodiles and the birds again

The Pool table, cue and pool balls were is a pitiful state. Clearly the cues had no tips and people have used them with the metal end and caused damage to the cue ball, which as a result was more like a golf ball.

The location was fabulous! The ocean view rooms look out over a bay that is the most inviting swimmable water!

The pool was in need of a good clean or maybe a new filtration system.

Proximity to beach & calm sea. Pool was large, quiiet and clean with a view to the beach. Local restaurants.

This might be my carelessness but the impression I had from the photos and price was that this would be a high quality resort offering a touch of luxury at the end of our holiday. The rooms were pleasant and clean but also basic. Food from the restaurant was no more than ok. For what you get, it is expensive compared with Nilaveli. Too much of the beach is used by boats to feel safe snorkelling outside of the marked area - and the marked area was very busy when we were there, although I think that was due to local events which the hotel clearly has no control over. I enjoyed the the abundance of restaurants along the beach at Nilaveli which were not present at Passikudah.
