The location is fantastic. The place is well-kept and it was an ideal spot to spend one night.

The lock in my room was very difficult to close with the key from the inside, to the point where me and my friend after several attempts to properly lock it, we had to put something heavy to block it

location was excellent. only a short wander into town. bed was ok.. a bit soft as we rolled into middle but we managed to get a sleep.

the smell was awful. it was as if someone was ill. bathroom was smelling of sick and poo. when you went into the house it hit you at night but was still there in morning. our room had a small sink in it . when you ran the water it was sour. my stepdaughter used her own towel and when we got home the horrid smell from the bathroom had stuck to it. front room very noisy but window was open as heating was on and no way of turning it off as the tops were missing from either side. eventually only slept there because of the smell unfortunately.

Excellent location; comfortable bed; clean towels and bedding; kettle, tea and coffee available; tiny bathroom but with a good shower- hot and excellent water pressure, easy check-in.

All of these issues are because it is set in a Victorian building with original features and therefore unlikely to be able to change: very narrow staircase to get up to rooms; bathroom was tiny and had some crevices growing black mould, but I think it’s basically impossible to avoid that- the rest of the room is clearly constantly cleaned.

The guesthouse is charming. Very Victorian. Nice back garden & views from window. Good wifi & hot water. Great location.

As is often the case, it’s largely the management that’s flawed. A day before arrival (where we were in a remote location), we received word that we needed to pay our 4 night stay in cash only. One day’s notice???!! Finding a bank or ATM was a huge inconvenience for us with only a day’s notice. Highly unprofessional. To add to the unpleasantness before we arrived, upon arrival (with cash) the reception was borderline rude. Maybe downright rude. Arriving at the room, the garbage (including some disgusting washroom garbage) had not been removed. The (very small) tiled shower stall still had globs of someone’s bathing products on it. So they missed cleaning the washroom, but the remainder of the room appeared clean. Parking is free from 18:00 to 9:00 but £1.20/hr thereafter, so a bit inconvenient. The room is lovely & reasonably appointed (wardrobe, chair, bed stand) but quite small. It had a queen bed. Thin mattress & even thinner pillows. And thin walls - although our neighbours were not loud, normal conversations were easily heard.
