The property is very well kept and the staff is constantly tidying up and cleaning. The staff is friendly and did their best to accommodate us and our lack of Japanese language skills. The building is really cool and has a little courtyard in the middle. It’s also a perfect central location close to public transit, food, shopping, etc. I highly recommend paying for the breakfast option there.

Very clean and spacious room
Very friendly
Great location for an early start in the "old town" before the crowds arrives and walking distance to the river and the market

Loved every second of my stay. Very simple, but the overall atmosphere was great. The staff were super nice and helpful. The location is also pretty great.
If I were to go back to Kyoto, i would definitely chose it again.
The traditional pillow was super hard, but an option for a softer one was given. Maybe i wish they would have given me the option for a double fouton, but at the time i didn't know it was a thing.
