The staff are very welcoming. The hotel is quiet, despite being near a busy road and very close to the JR station. The castle is an easy walk down the Main Street. Try to make time to walk some way around the moat - quite atmospheric.
Several restaurants around the hotel / station close early-ish (21.00). I recommend an Okinawan-themed bar / restaurant called 'Peter and Mary' - turn right out of the hotel, cross the main road, and then first left - 50 meters. Note: the hotel was running a discounted offer of imported (bottled) beers + outdoor seating.
