Lovely very quiet location.

The early morning trains initially woke us however after a night we slept through them

This is one of the coolest places I’ve stayed in! A converted railway building, right off the platform of a tiny station. It had lovely touches, like an old railway seat by the side of the bed, hand hold loops from a train carriage for handing things off and a set of train dials on the bench/table. In addition to providing the usual toiletries etc, there was plenty of water, some seasonal sweets and even a local type of pot noodle!

The property is right by the tracks and trains run from 6 am until 11 pm. The property provides ear plugs but I suggesting bringing your own, not the basic type (I did and slept like a baby)

Loved our stay at The Railway Hotel. It was so cool to feel like we had a whole train station to ourselves. The beds were incredibly comfortable. We paid the extra to have dinner provided and we got what we needed to make a couple helpings of a persimmon rice curry. Very tasty! Also, they included four bowls of a local brand of instant ramen which was really good for how simple it was. It was really nice to walk to the Ryuō Gorge to take pictures of the train going over the bridge from different angles. Really appreciated that the hosts allowed us to check in a little bit early and check out a little bit late. Basically if other reservations permit, and you fill out the request form, seems it’s something they’re happy to offer.

The bidet was a bit finicky. You would press the buttons on the control panel and it would say it was sending a message to the toilet but then it was consistent in actually doing that action, whether that be starting the bidet or stopping it. Wish we had known ahead of time that the Gran Class train that runs this route doesn’t run on Wednesdays at all and also not on the 2nd/4th Thursdays of every month. Of course our stay was the 2nd Wednesday/Thursday of the month. But I guess we can’t complain too much because until we got there we didn’t even know the Gran Class train was a thing at all. So it’s not like our expectations weren’t met. It would be nice if there was a business listing of things on offer at different stations along the line, with their hours. We know there was a handmade onigiri shop at the station before ours and also a coffee shop and a paper art shop at the next station after. Just not much to do in the village at the actual station. But that is advertised ahead of time

Chambre correcte, salle de bains neuve et assez grande pour le Japon. La vue le matin des trains arrivant ou quittant la gare est sympathique.

Le prix est beaucoup trop élevé. Des hôtes ont fait la remarque et rien n’a été fait pour résoudre le problème: il y a encore trop de lumière la nuit, des rideaux occultants doivent être placés à l’une des fenêtres et stopper l’arrivée de lumière sur toute la surface. Le bruit des trains presque jusqu’à minuit est un défaut que certains peuvent supporter et d’autres pas. La trentaine de marches à gravir pour arriver à la gare peut être un gros problème pour certains: porter ses bagages en montant des marches n’est pas pour tout le monde. Point de vue sécurité, on pourrait s’inquiéter de dormir dans une gare ( minuscule) mais au Japon, aucun problème. Dernier point mais cela a été dit: il faut apporter avec soi tout ce dont on a besoin point de vue nourriture et boissons car il n’y a rien dans les environs. Cela fait beaucoup de points négatifs pour moi.
