Amazing experience staying here. Wonderful lodge which was comfortable, clean and beautifully positioned to watch the wildlife. The staff are attentive and completely happy to assist with any requirement. We went on a guided walk and an evening game drive both were great and educational with guides Josh and Kieren. The food at this place is superb, breakfast and dinner are excellent.

Nothing, we loved it all.

The view from the lodges were spectacular with Elephants and Giraffes walking around and easy to spot.

The rooms are dispersed around the main lodge with relatively low level lighting which makes them quite dark at night whilst enhancing the experience of being in the bush and hearing the animals

Barefoot is indeed a an in-nature experience with birds sounds waking you and nature all around. We arrived later than expected, so we did not have time for the elephant experience. The dinner and breakfast was pretty good and the staff very pleasant and friendly. Barefoot send Kim to fetch us with a 4b4 from a nearby mountain lodge due to difficult road conditions and it was very nice of them to do so. I do think if you own a 4b4 and like exciting roads, this place is a absolute gem.

The place is challenging to reach (especially in rain) if you don't have a 4b4. While I truly loved the mountain road and the excitement of almost getting stuck in the mud with a Toyota Starlet Cross, it did mean we did not use the original route we planned and that meant arriving a lot later, missing some time we would like to have spend at the pretty nice nature accommodation. I think the route challenge should be communicated on booking, so that guest can plan in advance. My biggest problem was the power that went out shortly after we arrived. This was an Eskom issue, but it did mean no warm water, which meant no real use of the bath on the deck, that was a big draw for me in the first place. This was a bit of a disappointment, because the glamping experience gets lost when the tent/cabin is all dark. I think at the price I expected some generators to keep things going till at least 12pm. I still enjoyed the experience, but if felt like an overpay without the power.
