Diethnes Hotel

Old style vintage hotel not far from the center but very conveniently located close to metro/train station but also walkable distance to the city center. There is a big supermarket nearby, and some restaurant and bars - to find more of those, just walk 10 mins to Victoria square (metro station Victoria). The hotel is good value for the money, it's old style made of wood (including floors) but pretty well maintained. On the roof top there is a restaurant/bar floor although only with access but no bar/food during my stay. Shower has good pressure and hot water, TV working, little balcony to sit and drink my coffee in the morning, plus a fridge in room to keep drinks. All pretty good!

Due to the wooden floors. the hallways are pretty noisy day and night. In addition, the lower floors also get all the noise from the trash trucks early morning or people passing by the street. The staff was nice but kinda limited to 1-2 person, so when they had renovation work the workers were up in the hallways/stair pretty early in the morning, adding noise to the already noisy setup. It did not bother me too much, but I guess more sensitive people might be impacted. The hotel location during the day is totally fine and safe, but in the night can get a bit sketchy (it's a whole neighborhood problem), but easy to get a cheap taxi ride for people who don't fee comfortable walking in dark roads in the night.

L’hôtel était fermé pour travaux!! Nous n’avons donc pas pu estimer ses prestations. Le propriétaire avait prévenu BOOKING mais BOOKING ne m’avait pas prévenu !! J’ai décidé malgré tout de laisser un commentaire relativement positif car une personne de la réception était présente pour nous accueillir et nous prévenir Il a été d’une grande aide et nous a aidé à trouver un autre hôtel et nous a appelé un taxi Je remercie énormément ce monsieur qui a vraiment été extrêmement sympathique et serviable.

Close to the station Very nice room and bathroom

Very close to Athens Gare Centrale so all places we needed to go were easily found by metro. The hotel is well presented, maintaining a charming art deco feel. The room had a small balcony and fresh air with comfortable bed.

The bathroom is tight (and we are both of slight build), so took some getting used to… Nowhere to boil water and no sink plug. The 10 Euro breakfast is meagre: better to enjoy the strong coffee at the station buffet. Next time we would pay a little more to avoid some of the back streets of this area.
