Lovely old building , with good car park facilities. Quaint rooms and comfortable surroundings. Nice to have locals in bar and homely atmosphere

En-suite facilities in my room need upgrading. Shower effective and hot but grouting and metalwork worn. Tight facility but age of property restricts improvement. Step down into room not highlighted by marker band . Socket for kettle and tv may be overloaded as tv went off when kettle on. Bedside light not working in

I don't normally leave reviews but this was a really disappointing stay. The room itself was in need of maintenance and didn't seem to have been properly dusted/cleaned. The windows in the bedroom and bathroom let in a huge amount of noise and draft (it felt icy in October, so it must be unbearable in the winter!). The draft also repeatedly opened the bathroom door when someone was in there! The mattresses were old, the bed linen had marks on it. We couldn't get the bedside lamp to work in any plug (the member of staff we spoke to at check out said lots of people had trouble with it, in which case why wouldn't they replace it?). The wifi was weak or non-existent in the room (I assume the routers are downstairs in the pub). And when we went to breakfast in the morning, there were nine wasps buzzing around despite the windows being closed, so I assume there is a nest nearby. We tried to give feedback when we checked out but the member of staff wasn't really interested beyond giving us a £10 discount on the room rate. But we took photos in case they were needed.
