Really comfortable, friendly staff and peaceful atmosphere . Loved the adjoining pub and bowling facilities.

Location meant we needed a car.

It’s smart and upmarket

The only room available at my short notice booking was a Junior Suite. Basically the room is very nice but the shower is a disaster because quickly water seeps over a significant portion of the floor (problem is that the floor is not sloped and there is no lip either on the bottom of the door or on the floor. Each day I had to put towels down to stop the seeped water spreading further over the floor. What a mess! I informed reception.

We had a junior suite on the first floor and it was very nice. Clean, well maintained, huge bathroom and if you needed then three televisions in total which included one in the bathroom! Sampled breakfast twice during our stay and it was very good with a good choice of hot and cold food

For us the bed was just too soft which resulted in a persistent back ache. coupled with this as we were on the first floor at the back , it was a congregation point for people in groups staying in the hotel to meet. Their non stop chatter and noise at 5.30 in the morning was not welcome. We did ask the night receptionist to try to do something about it but to no avail. Yes, we closed the windows but it made little difference. It must be said that we were just unlucky to be there at that time but we felt something could have been done to make sure guests understood about keeping noise volume down eary in the mornings.

The furniture was old and worn out.The mattress and pillows were very uncomfortable and certainly not the standard quality you expect at this price point.There was the lack of basic toiletries. For a four-star hotel, you expect individual bottles of high-quality shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Instead there was only one "all-in-one" bottle. We were looking forward to a comfortable, premium stay, but unfortunately, this was very disappointing.
