Comfort Inn Kyoto Shijokarasuma

The location was absolutely perfect for exploring Kyoto! Everything was within easy reach, including Nishiki Market and plenty of shopping areas. The location honestly couldn't have been better. The staff were also incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. A special mention to the older lady working in the breakfast area. She spoke excellent English and was so warm and thoughtful, always making sure we understood what we were eating. That little extra care made the experience even more special. I also really enjoyed the multigrain rice and the katsu curry at breakfast. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I would happily recommend this hotel!

The only downside of my stay was the breakfast. It was very repetitive, and by the fourth day, it became quite difficult to enjoy the same options every morning. The variety was limited, with hardly any fruit options, and mackerel was served regularly. Since I’m allergic to mackerel, this significantly limited what I could eat. It would have been great to see more variety in the menu, including different fish options, fresh fruit, and a wider selection of dishes to choose from. A little more variation each day would have made the breakfast experience much more enjoyable.

WiFi was intermittent and the room small so double bed pushed against the wall. Air conditioning was centrally controlled we think because we could not set it lower than 20degC.
