You can feel the history steeped into this home! It was very clean, but there were a few maintenance issues: the screen door on the entrance near the kitchen is ripped and a screen is missing from one of the bedroom windows, so those could not be kept open; a nail is sticking up from the top of the wooden steps; there were lots of little sugar ants in the kitchen (we kept our bread and cereal in the fridge); the oven did not function when I went to use it to make dinner on our last night. There were only two major problems for us: 1) the highway that the house is on is loud and busy at times, making it super hard to find the driveway to pull into it at night between the two big trees (would recommend placing driveway reflectors there or adding a solar light) and 2) the bath towels are of very poor quality (thin and worn) and I could only find two dish towels for the kitchen (those sad towels were a real shock in a property full of good quality furniture and art). There was also a problem at checkin because the instructions I received turned out to be wrong. After we stood there for a while trying to enter the code I had received in advance, I went to message the owner and found that he had sent me a new code just one hour before arrival - that one worked. On the plus side, Wifi is strong, the beds and linens were comfortable, and the A/C is dual zone, so everyone can be comfortable, upstairs and down. Unbeatable location for events at Bent Mountain Lodge 10 minutes away!

Wonderful and spacious home! We were celebrating a graduation and found that there was plenty of room for 10 of us. We enjoyed the weather while sitting on the porch and drove into Floyd on a Friday night, which was a surprising treat! The kitchen was large and well equipped and there was ample seating for us to have a meal together. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.

Room for everyone, big family style dinners and cornhole boards set up outside while we grill & chill. We attended an event at Va Tech and this was a nice change of pace from staying in a hotel in town. The house was well furnished & the kitchen well appointed. Everyone had a wonderful time.

My family and I are longtime VRBO travelers and I cannot say enough about this home and its owners. While we were there over a long weekend it was our “home”. There is ample space for everyone of all ages. The backyard had a children’s playset, lots of room for running and outside space to get all the wiggles and yelling out. Bonus for our nieces and nephews were the next door neighbors who had school-aged kids that loved to play too. The neighbors also have a flock of chickens with a gorgeous rooster that leads his harem, along with “honorary chickens” that are actually white ducks, around the side and very back of the yard in search of insects. To all of us, this only made the house feel even comfortable since we love animals. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a full coffee and tea bar. The grill on the back deck was clean and worked flawless. ALL the bedrooms were well-appointed with beds to everyone’s sleeping style. One of my favorite spots was the front porch swing on which I began and ended each day. We cannot wait to stay again in the Fall and hopefully more seasons after.
