Hotel La Cierva de San Marcos

A very nice hotel with a great breakfast. Hernan’s and Gloria were excellent hosts, drivers and guides. Easy walking distance to the “old town” A really nice bed, good sized room. A sitting room on each floor and lots of good advice .

Hernan collected is from the airport. The hotel included many charming retro flourishes - the building dates to 1875. Our room on the third level was comfortable and the bed was perfectly firm. The views of Quito's surrounding hills was stunning. Gloria provided a delicious breakfast each morning.

This was a wonderful place to stay near the historic part of town. We could easily walk there, and there were cute little shops nearby. Gloria and Hernan made us feel comfortable from the start. We loved the breakfast each morning and appreciated their advice on what to see and do. Thank you both for a wonderful stay!

The building is historic and lovely, but the floor in our room was uneven, which made the beds tilt. We were able to level them with shoes and tuck the rugs underneath, so we slept comfortably.

​Excellent location: The hotel is perfectly situated right in the historic center. ​Great service: Gloria was incredibly punctual with the breakfast, which was good. The hosts are caring people, and I reckon they will easily make the necessary adjustments with time

Room maintenance needed: The place needs some repairs before earning a better rating. The door to one of our rooms wouldn't close properly, and neither room had curtains. ​Missing basic amenities: There were no hooks to hang towels, no toothbrush holders, and no shelves for shampoo or soap, forcing us to leave toiletries on the floor. ​Bathroom issues: The bathroom floor had no functioning drainage. Also, despite having three guests in our room, it took over 24 hours to get a third towel. ​Safety concerns: The stairs, steps, and rugs are quite slippery and felt a little dangerous.
