La Casita, Stanford La Casita is listed as quirky. I guess it easily fits that but don’t be put off by it. The small cottage was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The outside area was a real bonus and a lovely place to sit with a book, snacks, drinks or even a full mea. The kitchen was fully appointed and there is a small supermarket almost across the road which stocked most of what we could want for a stay in the area. Stanford offers a relaxed, small village feeling and there are plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. There are river cruises, hiking trails and either side there is Gansbaai and Hermanus, so a perfect base to explore the Overberg area. Casita is conveniently adjoined to La Cantina Stanford. We had visited before and had the most wonderful Sunday afternoon with Mark & Lyn. La casita is also run by them and we just can’t say enough kind words to thank them. We felt part of the local community sitting at Cantina, the vibe and food is Mexican but the hospitality is world class. We made sure we spent another Sunday afternoon there. We were concerned a second visit might not live up to our first, previous experiences. We were not disappointed. Mark & Lyn deserve every bit of success, we watched them more closely this time. They make it look easy and natural (maybe it is for them) but we were in awe of the effort, friendliness and example they show. It certainly runs through all the staff and Cantina is a real gem.

We had a lovely, peaceful stay, with very friendly hosts. Really enjoyed it!

Cute, well equipped apartment, in a very good location, within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

Bedding was not clean.

The pillows were very comfortable. Plunger coffee and fresh milk.

There is an aircon, but we couldn't use it because it trips the power. It was very hot, and the fan in the room didn't help much. The reception was not very welcoming. There was no communication from the hosts prior to or during our stay. We would have liked to at least have a drink at the restaurant, but it was full. A heads-up to book in advance would have resulted in a higher score.
